As for the New Routemaster spin-off such as the Wright SRM and Enviro400 City, it remains down to the private bus operators decision to purchase them for their own fleet; the same applies to bus companies outside of London. Recently CT Plus purchased a small batch for their new route 20 contract which they are operating now. Wrightbus still haven't featured the SRM product on their website but they still have the 3 door, two staircase hybrid New Routemaster page on their product list. The SRM is seen on the UK Volvo buses website for their B5LHC product.

Bus companies tend to order the bus type that is efficient and reliable for their operating performances, this is why TfL stated it’s down to the bus operators to decide on their purchase for the Enviro400 City and Wright SRM buses.

Metroline will be using 37 of the BYD Enviro400EV City buses for their London bus route 43 contract. They have chosen their own interior livery instead of the interior livery based on the New Routemaster bus. This could be a possibility for the Enviro400 City (bodywork) increase because Alexander Dennis is selling their new double deck battery electric product using the Enviro400 City bodywork.

To this day, I'm still expecting TfL to award new route contracts requiring operators to use zero emission battery electric buses. Perhaps TfL could do a mass purchase of the electric buses and lease them to the bus operating companies. This is the method TfL use with the New Routemaster buses as bus operators pay £1 per New Routemaster bus per year for lease rental.
