Update about the hybrid buses for London

This is a follow up to one of my previous articles  in which I briefly touched on the hybrid buses.
I have looked at London Bus Routes service changes again and they have updated the list which shows there will be more new hybrid buses for various routes in London.

These hybrid buses are usually purchased by the bus operating company with funding from TFL via their contracts, so the prices of these hybrid buses are usually unknown.
The hybrid buses still produce emissions due to the diesel engines which are needed to recharge the battery and help the electric motor to accelerate the bus.
I recently came across a photograph of the New Routemaster bus with the new rear door modification. It is a rear door that opens outwards in the same way as the middle doors do and the curved glass door is basically a 'solid window'. The rear pole which is usually for the ‘open platform’ mode has disappeared, so instead the newer fleet of the New Routemaster bus is a 3 door and two staircase bus. This may encourage manufacturers' to build their own double deck bus with ‘NRM features’.
You can see the photo here, but please take note of the comments, the rear door is not fully extended in the photo.
The list below shows the routes which are converting to New Routemaster operation.

There are still no official updates regarding more route conversions to New Routemasters.
Again, from one of my previous articles about the New Routemaster, I have always stated that the estimated cost for the New Routemaster project is £286 Million. 800 of these buses are owned by TfL and leased to bus operating companies.
Well, that's all the information I have for today so please share this article and follow me on Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest and Google Plus which is @CLondoner92
