From Alexander Dennis

A significant order for Alexander Dennis Enviro200XLB 3 axle single decks was sealed at the Bus and Coach Association 2017 Annual Conference in Rotorua today.

Robert Inwards, Owner and Director of the highly regarded, Birkenhead Transport, signed a contract for 20 brand new Enviro200XLB 3 axle single decks at the Alexander Dennis booth at the BCA Conference.

The brand new 3 axle Enviro200XLB developed specifically to comply with regulations in New Zealand is the latest addition to the already successful Enviro200 range. Launched in June 2017, this 12.75m long 3 axle single deck is powered by a 6 cylinder Euro VI engine and designed to carry 45 seated passengers and 38 standees with lower RUC charges and extremely good on fuel.

Birkenhead’s fleet of Enviro200XLB vehicles will operate in North Shore, Auckland alongside a fleet of 8 Enviro500 double deck buses. Six Enviro500s are already in service, with the next two being delivered mid-October. It was the outstanding reliability and performance of the double deck vehicles which led Robert Inwards to return to Alexander Dennis when looking to add to his single deck fleet.

Commenting on the order, Mr Inwards stated “Our Enviro500 vehicles have proven to be very reliable and key additions to our operation. We also have great peace of mind thanks to the local support and parts supply which Alexander Dennis offers. It was an easy decision to make due to the low operating cost especially when we are working under the new PTOM contracts.

Tony Moore, General Manager for Alexander Dennis in New Zealand, commented, “We are delighted to receive this third order from Birkenhead Transport. We see this as a strong endorsement of the investment Alexander Dennis has made in developing a range of vehicles for this market which couple outstanding product reliability, class-leading performance and low whole life costs. We look forward to continuing to partner with Birkenhead throughout the lifecycle of this fleet and beyond. This agility along with the significant investment we’ve made in our NZ-wide, parts and service operation is what differentiates us from our competition.”

This was just another quick article about a new bus type which is always worth relaying.
