London Bus Tender Awards: New Electric Buses For Routes 60, 312, 405, 466 & 485

The announcement of the London Bus Tender Awards by Transport for London has revealed that routes 60, 312, 405, 466 and 485 will be served using new electric buses.

LBSL intends to enter into new contracts for the following routes with the operators listed below:

Route 60
Retained by: Arriva London South
Peak Vehicle Requirement (PVR): 20
Vehicles: New electric double deck
Contract Start Date: 30th August 2025
Contract End Date: 27th August 2032

Route 217
Previous Operator: Sullivan Buses
New Operator: Go-Ahead London General
PVR: 12
Vehicles: Existing diesel double deck
Contract Start Date: 16th November 2024
Contract End Date: 14th November 2025

Route 312
Retained by: Arriva London South
PVR: 12
Vehicles: New electric single deck
Contract Start Date: 6th September 2025
Contract End Date: 3rd September 2032

Route 405
Retained by: Arriva London South

Vehicles: New electric double deck
Contract Start Date: 30th August 2025
Contract End Date: 27th August 2032

Route 466

*One vehicle is diesel double deck

New electric vehicles may enter service after the contract start date, dependent on infrastructure and/ or vehicle delivery timescales.

The diesel vehicles detailed above will meet Euro VI emissions standards.


Some of my readers may wonder what 'LBSL' stands for.

According to TfL, it says "London Bus Services Ltd. (LBSL) is the subsidiary of Transport for London (TfL) that is responsible for the contracting and operation of London's bus network."
