London Buses routes 47 and 68 are to have new
hybrid buses; route 47 will have Volvo B5LH
Enviro400H MMC body whilst route 68
gets Wrightbus New Routemaster, a 3 door 2 staircase bus.
From LOTS (London Omnibus Traction Society)
1) Virtually no change since last week,
with just a very few more of the outstanding new vehicles entering service,
especially more HA’s (Enviro400H City) on the 78 and more
WHVs on the 155. Since the introduction
at Merton of new SE-class E20Ds, four
(of fourteen expected) of the SOEs from Merton have started to move to
Camberwell to replace the fourteen ELS class Scanias on route 42, which are
being withdrawn and sold off.
2) The first few LTs for route 68 have started to be delivered for the conversion
during January. Likewise, the first few
Volvo B5LHs for Stagecoach route 47
are ‘under preparation’ for the type change on the route later
in January, as are the first few of the
Arriva KT E400s due for the 229 and 492 later in the month.
Routes 35 and 40 are expected to have new double
deck Hybrid buses which are expected to commence on 30th April 2016 under a new contract to London
Central.
They say that 'time
flies', well, there are lots of things to look forward to this year in the bus
world as routes 26, 53, 72, 85, 91, 114, 140 and 483 will have new double deck
hybrid buses which are expected to start operation at various different times
later on this year.
I said in my previous
articles that route 26 will have Enviro400H City buses which are expected to be
in service by the 25th June 2016 and operated by CT Plus. I should also mention
that the Enviro400H City buses are manufactured by Alexander Dennis but they
have similar designs based on the New Routemaster bus. The Enviro400H City is
currently still rolling out to route 78.
As we are still at the
beginning of 2016 there isn't much to report on, but I'll keep you all updated
as I find more news to report.
