London Bus Tender Awards: New Routemasters Continue On Routes 55 & 87, New Electric Buses for Route 230

As we are in November of 2024, it has been reported by Transport for London (TfL) that routes 55 and 87 will continue to use three-door, two-staircase New Routemasters, and route 230 will be served using new electric double-deck buses.

LBSL intends to enter into new contracts for the following routes with the operators listed below:

Retained By: Stagecoach East London

Retained By: Go-Ahead London General
PVR: 19
Vehicles: Existing New Routemaster
Contract Start Date: 31st May 2025
Contract End Date: 1st June 2029

Route 219
Retained By: Go-Ahead London General
PVR: 12
Vehicles: Existing electric single deck
Contract Start Date: 31st May 2025
Contract End Date: 28th May 2032

Route 230
Retained By: Go-Ahead London General
PVR: 11
Vehicles: New electric double deck
Contract Start Date: 21st June 2025
Contract End Date: 18th June 2032

Route 432
Retained By: Arriva London South
PVR: 10
Vehicles: Existing hybrid double deck
Contract Start Date: 5th April 2025
Contract End Date: 7th April 2028

New electric vehicles may enter service after the contract start date, dependent on infrastructure and/ or vehicle delivery timescales.

The hybrid vehicles detailed above will meet Euro VI emissions standards.

TfL Bus Changes: Closure of Walthamstow bus station from 00:01 Friday 8 November until 23:59 Friday 20 December 2024 Routes 34, 55, 69, 212, 215, 230, 275, SL1, SL2, W12, W15, W19, N26, N38, N73 will not stop in the bus station but will call at alternative stops near to the bus station.
