London Bus Tender Awards: Stagecoach Retains Route 339 With Electric Single-Deckers

Slightly overdue news from the London Bus Tender Awards: Transport for London (TfL) reported on Wednesday 9 September 2026 that Route 339 has been reawarded to Stagecoach London, operating with electric single-decker buses.

LBSL intends to enter into a new contract for the following route with the operator listed below:

Route 339
Retained by: Stagecoach Lea Interchange
Peak Vehicle Requirement (PVR): 12
Vehicles: Electric single deck
Contract Start Date: 23rd October 2027
Contract End Date: 20th October 2034

The current make and model of the electric single-decker buses used on the route is the Optare/Switch Mobility Metrocity EV. It remains uncertain whether these will be retained or replaced, so we will have to wait and see in due course.
