London Buses Route 73 is rolling out their conversion to New Routemasters. I have also previously mentioned that Routes 149 and 168 are due to convert to New Routemaster operation later this year.
On Tuesday 2nd June, LOTS reported about the London Bus route tenders.
The following TfL contracts have been awarded today:
Tranche 499
15H re-awarded to Stagecoach East London with existing heritage Routemasters, PVR 5, start date 14 November. Frequency reduced to every 20 minutes.
Tranche 502
91/N91 re-awarded to Metroline with New Routemasters (91) or existing double deck (N91), PVR 21, start date 6 February 2016.
263 re-awarded to Metroline with existing Euro 4 double deck, PVR 18, start date 6 February 2016
307 awarded to Metroline (currently Arriva London North) with existing fleet Euro 4 double decks, PVR 15, start date 12 December 2015. Awarded on the basis of a 24 hour weekend service, subject to consultation.
Tranche 503
155/N155 re-awarded to London General with new battery hybrid double decks, PVR 21, start date 12 December 2015
159 (24 hour) awarded to Abellio London (currently Arriva London South) with New Routemasters, PVR 34, start date 12 December 2015.
Tranche 506
47 re-awarded to Stagecoach Selkent with new battery hybrid double decks, PVR 19, start date 23 January 2016. Awarded on the basis of a 24 hour service in conjunction with changes to N1 and new route N199 which are subject to consultation.
Currently fourteen London Bus routes are served with New Routemasters which are Routes 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 24, 38, 55, 73, 137, 148, 390 & 453.
The four routes that are due to have New Routemasters under new tender contracts are:
· Route 91 awarded to Metroline, start date commence on 6th February 2016
· Route 149 awarded to Arriva, start date commence on 17th October 2015
· Route 159 awarded to Abellio, start date commence on 12th December 2015
· Route 168 awarded to Metroline, start date commence 26th September 2015
So this will increase the number of routes to 'eighteen' by early 2016.
Since there are New Routemaster routes which were served by AEC Routemasters and/or Mercedes Benz Citaro Artics, I have updated the list as a follow up from my previous article.

In other news, routes 47 and 155 will be served with New battery hybrid double decks, the private bus operating companies will buy them for their route contracts; but TFL owns the fleet of New Routemaster buses where private bus operating companies don’t have to buy them as TFL are leasing them to bus operating companies.
