London Buses Route 333 will be fully
converted to the Alexander Dennis Enviro400H City buses and Route 133 will be
partly served with the Enviro400H City buses too.
Route 133 (Liverpool Street Station –
Streatham), Contract retained by Arriva London with 32 hybrid double deckers
(mix of new E40H/Enviro400 City and
20 existing B5L/Eclipse Gemini from route
76), plus one bus from route 333 in AM peak. Expected Date 21st
January 2017
Route 333 (Elephant & Castle – Tooting),
Contract awarded to Arriva London with 16
new E40H/Enviro400 City hybrid double deckers. Expected Date 21st
January 2017
It’s interesting
to see that the number of Enviro400H City buses are being increased in London;
they hold various design cues such as the glazed staircase from the New
Routemaster bus.
I know we
are expecting the Volvo B5LH SRM (two door New Routemaster) to enter service on
Route 13, which is supposed to happen this September, but on Flickr I found a recent photo of the Volvo SRM (fleetcode VHR45203 number plate LJ16 MUV) and the publisher
of the photo commented:
“I have no idea, from what our guide told
us, although it may just be his view, it
almost seems as if London Sovereign don't seem to know what to do with them,
even though officially they are for
route 13.
From what I understand, six of these were due to enter service this month (September), but this was the only one here.”
Is this in
relation to RATP-Dev’s loss of the new route 13 contract which Tower Transit has won? Please let me know in the comments
section below.
Also, as Arriva lost the route 76 contract to Go Ahead London General, route 76 will now
be served with the 3 door 2 staircase hybrid buses called the New Routemaster; they are expected to
enter service on 28th January 2017 as a new contract start date.
