First of all, late as it, I would like to wish all of my readers a very Happy New and once again, I do apologise for the lack of articles for January.
As part of the consultation changes for London bus routes C2 and 88, the entire route C2 will be withdrawn and route 88 will be re-routed to cover the old route C2.
From TfL consultations
Following our consultation, we have identified the appropriate steps to address the key concerns raised during the consultation.
In addressing these concerns we have concluded that we can now proceed in extending bus route 88, so that it runs between Clapham Common and Parliament Hill Fields, and withdrawing route C2.
To cover the loss of routes C2, route 88 will be rerouted to run via the current C2 route between Great Portland Street and Parliament Hill Fields. It will no longer serve Mornington Crescent Tube station, Hampstead Road, Warren Street Tube station or Euston Road.
We expect these changes will be implemented in Spring 2019 and this page will be updated again when an implementation date is confirmed.
You can view the responses to the consultation on the TfL consultations website here.
LOTS News reported that route 88’s ‘New Routemasters’ will be swapped with the Enviro400 Hybrids (EHs) from route 87.
Taken from the LOTS news report on Saturday 5 January:
3) The ‘consultation’ on routes 88 and C2 has now been done and the C2 will be withdrawn, the 88 extended to Parliament Hill Fields and its LTs will be swapped with the EHs from route 87. A provisional date is 30th March.
Route 87 serves from Wandsworth to Aldwych via Vauxhall. So this means that route 88 will be reduced to the standard two-door, one-staircase hybrids and the three-door, two-staircase hybrid New Routemasters, which are expected to appear on route 87 on 30th March.
