London Bus Tender Awards: Route 171 To Use Double-Deck Electric Buses, And Metroline To Operate Routes 327 & W9

As we are approaching the end of August, the recent London Bus Tender Awards have revealed that routes 171/N171 will use new double-deck electric buses, and Metroline will operate routes 327 and W9 which were previously operated by Sullivan Buses.

LBSL intends to enter into new contracts for the following routes with the operators listed below:

Route 45
Retained by: Transport UK London
Peak Vehicle Requirement (PVR): TBC
Vehicles: Existing hybrid double deck
Contract Start Date: 1st February 2025
Contract End Date: 1st February 2030

Route 171/N171
Retained by: Go-Ahead London Central
PVR: 15
Vehicles: New electric double deck
Contract Start Date: 26th April 2025
Contract End Date: 23rd April 2032

Route 327
Previous Operator: Sullivan Buses
New Operator: Metroline
PVR: 1
Vehicles: Existing diesel single deck
Contract Start Date: 31st August 2024
Contract End Date: 27th August 2027

Route W9
Previous Operator: Sullivan Buses
New Operator: Metroline
PVR: 8
Vehicles: Existing diesel single deck
Contract Start Date: 21st September 2024
Contract End Date: 17th September 2027

New electric vehicles may enter service after the contract start date, dependent on infrastructure and/ or vehicle delivery timescales.

The diesel and hybrid vehicles detailed above will meet Euro VI emissions standards.

It will be interesting to see which make and model of double-deck electric bus will be chosen by Go-Ahead London for route 171/N171 as part of their contract renewal. I have posted a thread on X listing the make and models of each double-deck electric bus.
