Transport for London (TfL) has announced in the London Bus Tender awards that four routes in Havering have been retained by Stagecoach London, with brand new double-deck electric buses.
LBSL intends to enter into new contracts for the following routes with the operators listed below:
Route 165
Retained by: Stagecoach East London
Peak Vehicle Requirement (PVR): 13
Vehicles: New electric double deck
Contract Start Date: 27th September 2025
Contract End Date: 24th September 2032
Route 252
Retained by: Stagecoach East London
PVR: 13
Vehicles: New electric double deck
Contract Start Date: 27th September 2025
Contract End Date: 24th September 2032
Route 256
Retained by: Stagecoach East London
PVR: 11
Vehicles: New electric double deck
Contract Start Date: 27th September 2025
Contract End Date: 24th September 2032
Route 365 (24hr)
Retained by: Stagecoach East London
PVR: 12
Vehicles: New electric double deck
Contract Start Date: 27th September 2025
Contract End Date: 24th September 2032
New electric vehicles may enter service after the contract start date, dependent on infrastructure and/or vehicle deliveries timescales.
As there are multiple bus manufacturers that produce double-deck electric buses to TfL specification, it will be interesting to see which make and model Stagecoach will use for their new route contracts.
My wish is to see all bus routes serving Havering Borough fully operated by zero-emission electric buses, ahead of TfL's ambition for a 100% zero-emission bus fleet by 2030.

Vy Buss in Norway has ordered three Solaris Urbino 9 LE electric buses for routes in Slemmestad, Oslo, marking the model’s Nordic debut. The zero-emission buses, arriving in July 2025, feature extra insulation, snow chain drawers, and anti-elk lights.https://t.co/U1jwcbgc8d pic.twitter.com/JJ6Ku7mC33
