Singapore Bus Tender Awards: SMRT Buses Wins the Serangoon-Eunos Bus Package

In the London, I mean Singapore, Bus Tender Awards, the Land Transport Authority has awarded routes 11, 22, 53, 58, 59, 60, 63, 64, 90, 94, 101, 103, 105, 109, 134, 137, 140, 141, 146, 148, 150, 154, 158, 315 and 317 to SMRT Buses.

From The LTA press release:

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded the contract for the Serangoon-Eunos bus package to SMRT Buses Ltd. The contract, estimated at a total fee of SG$599.5 million over a five-year contract period, will commence from 13 June 2027. LTA has the option to extend the contract by between two and five years at the end of the five-year term.

The Serangoon-Eunos bus package is currently operated by SBS Transit Ltd (SBST) and consists of 26 routes operating from Hougang Bus Depot. Under the new contract, SMRT will begin operations from the new Kim Chuan Bus Depot, and manage Eunos Bus Interchange, Serangoon Bus Interchange, Woodleigh Bus Interchange and Sims Place Bus Terminal.

The tender for the Serangoon-Eunos bus package was called on 19 December 2025. Tender submissions were evaluated based on a two-envelope process, whereby quality proposals were evaluated before price submissions were opened. This ensures that LTA selects the proposal that offers the best value-for-money. Given large-scale electric bus deployment in this package, LTA placed greater emphasis on the proposal’s quality, particularly in electric bus operations and maintenance capabilities.

I appreciate the transparency of the LTA in revealing the complete list of bidders and prices for their five-year contracts. I wish TfL published this exact level of detail for their London Bus Tender Awards, rather than only releasing the highest and lowest bids once the results are eventually uploaded to the TfL website.

The reason for posting the Singapore bus tender awards is that there is no news about London for the time being.
