A bus news website called Route-One has published an article raising the issue about the operating deficit for London Bus services.

Falling passenger numbers, increased costs and the effects of Mayor Sadiq Khan’s fares freeze means that London’s bus operating deficit is set to rise from £599m in 2016/17 to £647m - £1.8m a day - by 2022/23, admits Transport for London (TfL).

Last year I published an article back on 29th August 2015 when I was disappointed with route 296 operating a night service in order to connect people from Newbury Park station to Romford.

But thankfully route 296 will operate their weekend night service in line with the Night Tube on 19^th August 2016.

More night services for London Buses, but Night Tube is postponed

TFL have just released their consultation update in which they received 3,300 responses from members of the public and 40 responses from Stakeholders.

They have received overwhelming support for extended night bus services which means that TFL will introduce new services in phases.

TfL unveils their new ‘Night Tube’ service map

We are not far away now until a few of the ‘deep level’ Underground lines begin to operate their overnight service at weekends.

TfL have just released their ‘Night Tube’ service map which looks interesting for overnight commuters.

The new map has been designed to show customers clearly which Tube lines and stations will operate 24-hour services from the early hours of 12 September 2015, transforming night time journeys across London for millions of people.

Proposal for more London Bus night services for ‘Night Tube’ service

TFL is 'consulting' to the public because they want to introduce more night bus services to make more connections in line with their ‘Night Tube’ service.

Night Bus services in London have increased beyond recognition in the last 30 years. This reflects and supports changes to London’s vibrant night time economy. The current comprehensive Night Bus network means that most of zones 1 and 2 are within walking distance of a Night Bus route, and London’s suburban Night Bus service is also amongst the most comprehensive in the world.
