Transport for London Terminates Route 38 Contract Early Amidst Ongoing Consultation on Proposed Changes to Routes 19 and 38

⚠️ Just to clarify: when a contract is terminated early, it does not mean that the route is withdrawn or changed immediately. Route 38 continues to run in its current routing.

I don't usually publish the tendering programme updates by Transport for London (TfL), as I mostly report on the London Bus Tender Awards on my site.
 
However, a consultation on the proposal to amend routes 19 and 38, with a potential new route 10, is currently being hosted on the TfL 'Have Your Say' website.

London Bus Tender Awards: Route 21 to Continue Using New Routemasters, and Route 126 to Use New Electric Single-Deck Buses

As the year 2025 draws to a close, Transport for London (TfL) has announced the latest London bus tender awards. Under the new contracts, the three-door, two-staircase New Routemasters will continue operating on route 21 for a further two years, while route 126 will be worked by new electric single-deck buses. This also means that the New Routemasters on route 313 will be withdrawn.

London Bus Tender Awards: Arriva Retains Superloop Route SL2 with New Electric Buses

Transport for London (TfL) has announced, in the latest London Bus Tender Awards, that Arriva London has retained the Superloop route SL2. The route will be operated with new electric double-deck buses and is expected to launch sometime next year. This announcement coincides with TfL’s 25th anniversary, which is highlighted in the social media posts embedded below.

London Bus Tender Awards: New Electric Buses for Routes 96, 229, 428, and 492

As we are now in mid-July and the school term has ended for the summer holidays, Transport for London (TfL) has announced that Arriva has won and retained four bus routes, which will operate with new double-deck electric buses.

London Bus Tender Awards: Route 149 to Continue Using New Routemasters, New Electric Buses for Route 275, and Go-Ahead London Central Wins Bakerloop Express BL1 Contract – Launching in September 2025

In this special London Bus Tender Awards update, it has been revealed that Arriva London has retained route 149 and will continue to operate three-door, two-staircase hybrid New Routemasters.

The Bakerloop Express BL1 route, part of the Superloop network, has been awarded to Go-Ahead London Central, who will introduce electric buses. The service is expected to launch on 27 September 2025.

Arriva London to Surrender Routes 149 & 248 Early Due to Financial Challenges, Retendering Set for 2025

It has been reported by @ediz1975 on X (formerly Twitter) that the bus operating company Arriva London has announced they will surrender routes 149 and 248 two years earlier than the original end date.

In the summer of 2024, independent bus company Sullivan Buses ceased operating all of Transport for London's (TfL) routes due to a financial dispute, and the routes were retendered to different bus operating companies.

London Bus Tender Awards: New Double-Deck Electric Buses For Routes 341 And Superloop SL3

The recent London Bus Tender Awards have revealed that routes 341 and Superloop SL3 will be using new zero-emission double-deck electric buses. Hereby replacing the three-door, two-staircase hybrid buses named New Routemaster used for the SL3.
