Tottenham Court Road Crossrail Elizabeth Line near completion and London Bus tender awards update

Crossrail have announced the near completion of the new Tottenham Court Road station. We are still months away though until the main core of Crossrail opens up in December 2018.

New images showing progress at Tottenham Court Road have been released, highlighting the critical role played by businesses across the UK in the delivery of the Elizabeth line. Tottenham Court Road station will be at the centre of London’s first new underground railway in a generation, which will run from Berkshire and Heathrow in the west to south east London and Essex in the east.

TfL gets the go ahead to construct Silvertown Tunnel!

TfL has been given the green light to construct the new Silvertown Tunnel which will enable more bus routes and also reduce congestion through the Blackwall Tunnel.


Transport for London (TfL) has today been granted a Development Consent Order (DCO) by the Department for Transport (DfT) to deliver the Silvertown Tunnel - a new twin-bore road tunnel under the Thames in east London.

One year to go until Crossrail Elizabeth Line starts!

With 2018 rapidly approaching, it’s not much longer until the Crossrail Elizabeth Line officially kicks in. We’ll still have to wait until December 2018 though for the ‘main core’ of the Crossrail Elizabeth Line to open up!


Elizabeth line services will be introduced in phases, with the central London stations opening in December 2018.

Track installation for Crossrail Elizabeth Line is complete!



As the Crossrail project moves ever forward, the works for the track layout is now officially completed.

Construction for Northern Line extension begins in March



After the long wait, the construction for the Northern Line extension begins in March.




  • Two new 3.2km tunnels will be created as the Northern line is extended to Battersea, via Nine Elms
  • The extension – set for completion in 2020 – is the first major Tube line extension since the Jubilee line in the late 1990s
  • Two 650-tonne tunnel boring machines, named Helen and Amy, are undergoing final testing
The Mayor of London has announced that tunnelling to create an extension of the Northern line between Kennington and Battersea will begin in March.
