UK Government to End Railway Franchising – Unique Identities For London Overground Services

It’s been a while since I’ve posted something railway related on my website. This recent news regarding railways in Britain is huge because the UK Government have drafted plans to end railway franchising and to simplify ticketing, although the operations will remain privatised.

TfL unveils the new Class 710 for the London Overground

TfL has unveiled the new Class 710, manufactured by Bombardier which will soon to be used on the Lea Valley Lines, Gospel Oak to Barking Line (GOBLIN), Watford DC Line and Romford to Upminster Line.

The new trains will carry almost 700 people per train and feature a high capacity walk- through layout, Wi-Fi and USB charging points and a brand new seat moquette.

Weekend Night East London Line extension from Dalston Junction to Highbury & Islington

TfL announces the extension of the Night Service East London Line from Dalston Junction to Highbury & Islington, linking to the London Underground Victoria Line.

Night Overground that began under Mayor Sadiq Khan will extend to serve Canonbury and Highbury & Islington stations from 23 February 2018.

Weekend night service comes to the East London Line

The London Overground East London Line will be part of the Weekend Night Tube service starting on 15^th December 2017.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has today announced that Night Overground services will begin in east London on Friday 15 December, making travelling at night even easier for thousands of Londoners.

The 24-hour services will operate on Friday and Saturday nights on the London Overground between New Cross Gate and Dalston Junction, extending to Highbury & Islington next year. This will help Londoners working through the night as well as those enjoying east London's thriving nightlife.

24 hour service for the London Overground East London Line

As the Night Tube continues to expand, the former London Underground line ‘East London Line’ (currently part of London Overground network since 2010) will have 24 hour service on weekends.

• All-night services on Fridays and Saturdays will start on the East London route in December
• Services will run between New Cross Gate and Dalston Junction, and be extended to Highbury & Islington next year

Farewell to the London Underground D78 stock trains

It’s the end of an era for the London Underground D78 stock train.

This also marks the end for single leaf door trains for the London Underground. The second rolling stock with single leaf doors was the 1983 tube stock for the Jubilee Line which was withdrawn in mid 1998.
