Greater Anglia Announces New Contactless Pay-As-You-Go 💳 at 20 More Stations, Including Stansted and Southend Airport ✈️🚅

This is a quick news update to announce that Greater Anglia will extend contactless pay-as-you-go ticketing from 8 March 2026. The launch was originally expected in December 2025, but was delayed due to technical issues.

Travellers will soon be able to use contactless bank cards to travel to and from Stansted or Southend Airport without needing a paper or mobile ticket.

Let’s hope it is not delayed again! 🤞

From Greater Anglia:

From Sunday 8 March, passengers travelling on the Greater Anglia network will benefit from pay as you go contactless ticketing at 20 additional stations, making journeys quicker, simpler and more flexible.

The extension will make it easier for customers travelling on key commuter and airport routes into and out of London, including the Stansted Express route between London Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport, to touch in and out using a contactless bank card, smartphone, or smart device.

The extension of contactless ticketing will cover key commuter and airport routes to Southend Victoria, Witham and Stansted Airport, with stations such as Southend Airport, Chelmsford, Harlow Town and Bishop’s Stortford all set to benefit. The recently opened Beaulieu Park station is also included.

Pay as you go contactless will be accepted at the following additional 20 Greater Anglia stations:

• Billericay
• Beaulieu Park
• Bishop’s Stortford
• Chelmsford
• Harlow Mill
• Harlow Town
• Hatfield Peverel
• Hockley
• Ingatestone
• Prittlewell
• Rayleigh
• Rochford
• Roydon
• Sawbridgeworth
• Stansted Airport
• Southend Victoria
• Stansted Mountfitchet
• Wickford
• Witham
• Southend Airport

Contactless ticketing allows passengers to pay for individual journeys, combining peak and off-peak fares where appropriate, with fares automatically calculated based on where and when they travel. Daily and weekly caps apply on journeys into and within London, helping customers pay the best value fare for their journeys.
