London Bus Tender Awards: New Single-Deck Electric Buses For Routes 299, 389 & 399

As we are in June, the recent London Bus tender awards reveal that routes 299, 389 and 399 are expecting to use new zero-emission single-deck buses by February next year (2025) as part of the new contract won by Go-Ahead London.

LBSL intends to enter into new contracts for the following routes with the operators listed below:

Route 161
Retained by: Stagecoach Selkent
Peak Vehicle Requirement (PVR): 16
Vehicles: Existing hybrid double deck
Contract Start Date: 15th March 2025
Contract End Date: 15th March 2030

Route 181
Retained by: Stagecoach Selkent

Contract End Date: 10th March 2028

Routes 299/389/399
Current Operator: Sullivan Buses
New Operator: Go Ahead London General

Vehicles: New electric single deck
Contract Start Date: 1st February 2025
Contract End Date: 30th January 2032

Route 423
Retained by: RATP Dev London United
PVR: 7
Vehicles: Existing hybrid double deck
Contract Start Date: 1st March 2025
Contract End Date: 25th February 2028

Route 482
Retained by: Transport UK West London
PVR: 8
Vehicles: Existing hybrid double deck
Contract Start Date: 22nd March 2025
Contract End Date: 17th March 2028

Route 672
Retained by: Stagecoach Selkent

Contract End Date: 3rd September 2027

New electric vehicles may enter service after the contract start date, dependent on infrastructure and/ or vehicle delivery timescales.


The diesel and hybrid vehicles detailed above will meet Euro VI emissions standards.
